LevelFive's Previous Wordmark Logo with Tagline

LevelFive Solutions was once formerly called as LevelFive, with the overall Font Style chosen for the Corporate Brand Logo to be a Sans Serif  Font Type while the overall Font Style chosen for its Brand Tagline to be a Serif  Font Type.

Hence, with the overall Font Style chosen for the Corporate Brand Logo and its Tagline being completely different, along with the line drawn towards the end of its corporate brand logo being thinner and leaner overall, and with no definite correlation and meaning being conveyed between the Corporate Brand Logo Name and its Tagline when it was used previously, this has caused many of the general public to have confusion and many have asked on what the firm is about.

It was thus crucial to come up with a much more proper design that could be utilized by the company for professional and official usage.

Additionally, despite the company being in the industry for more than a decade since they were first established in 2008, it was identified that they were unable to gain proper brand recognition as a company when the firm first started till the Covid period in 2020, where many firms were affected by the pandemic - Covid - 19. As such, it was identified that the company needed a rebranding phase to create a new branding image look and to gradually solidify its brand identity overall.

Fun Fact: Initially, the firm went by their Product's Brand Name "Dineplan" when they first started in 2008, and gradually, over the years, they started to then introduce themselves as "LevelFive" for their firm's corporate brand name and then followed by their other Product's Brand Name "Retailplan". It was only during 2018 - 2019 that LevelFive created its first corporate brand logo image with the design shown above.

How did the company previously choose its Brand Name?

The name "LevelFive" was selected due to the CMMI Maturity Levels Model Framework Diagram that is commonly used within the Software Development sector.

The CMMI Model consists of a maturity level which is defined as a well-defined evolutionary plateau toward achieving a mature software process. Each maturity level provides a layer in the foundation for continuous process improvement. In CMMI models with a staged representation, there are five maturity levels designated by the numbers 1 through 5 -

  1. Initial

  2. Managed

  3. Defined

  4. Quantitatively Managed

  5. Optimizing

Hence, with the firm having the initial intention and striving of wanting to reach Level 5 of the CMMI model for its software solutions developments, this means that processes are continually improved based on a quantitative understanding of the common causes of variation inherent in processes.

And Maturity level 5 focuses on continually improving process performance through both incremental and innovative technological improvements.

Hence, the name "LevelFive" was ultimately selected and the tagline was created by the firm previously to simply match the CMMI model Level 5's stage term called "Optimizing" and with Business Solutions being the core of the firm's product and/or service offerings, this made the Tagline "Optimizing Business Solutions" to be created.

How"LevelFive Solutions" came about?

LevelFive's new rebranded brand name - LevelFive Solutions came about after many discussions with the management team members were held and from thereon, I also initiated an internal team rebranding feedback process with anonymity taken into consideration for all internal team members to provide their own input and/or ideas plus suggestions of what they'd prefer the new corporate brand name to be. In the end, based on the internal survey responses, the majority felt that the most suited name they were considering is a name with their core corporate brand name "LevelFive" still being included overall due to the core purpose and meaning of how the firm started out initially.

As such, we all unanimously decided to go with "LevelFive Solutions" in hopes of better naming ourselves from the get-go as a company that mainly deals with Software Solutions in the F&B (Food and Beverage) and Retail sectors and/or any form of Solutions pertaining to the Technological and/or Software Development industry which includes all various aspects such as Hardware, Platform Frontend & Backend Systems and more!

Update: Some of the initial tagline suggestions the management team and I had thought of were the following but no tagline had been decided:

  1. "Optimizing F&B & Retail Software Solutions"

  2. "Optimizing F&B & Retail Solutions"

  3. "Optimizing Retail Software Solutions"

  4. "Optimizing Retail Solutions"

  5. "Optimizing Business Software Solutions"

Font style chosen:

Roboto

Roboto is a Google font typeface designed by Christian Robertson

Fun fact: Roboto is a neo-grotesque sans-serif typeface family developed by Google as the system font for its mobile operating system, Android, and was released in 2011 for Android 4.0 "Ice Cream Sandwich".

As most of the firm's solutions are mainly operating on an Andriod and/or Windows-based platform system, this choice of font style could be easily used across for majority of their operating system throughout.

The plus point about Roboto font style is that it includes Thin, Light, Regular, Medium, Bold, and Black weights with matching oblique styles rather than true italics.

Roboto is a good font style type to use across all devices, it was designed with the purpose of utilizing it in a multi-device world. Not only is it web-safe, but it's also sure to render correctly even if a user has custom browser font settings made.

It is good for commercial use overall and it is an open source license-free font typeface provided by Google. On a majority of the platforms online, it can be easily downloaded and installed for use on the firm's end.

As a very simple sans typeface, Roboto fits very well with bold serif fonts, like Yeseva One.

While it’s a great companion font, Roboto also does very well on its own. It’s a suitable choice for brands with a more minimalistic approach, similar to LevelFive Solutions.

At the same time, the font features friendly and open curves. While some grotesks distort their letterforms to force a rigid rhythm, Roboto doesn't compromise, allowing letters to be settled into their natural width. This makes for a more natural reading rhythm more commonly found in humanist and serif types.

Thus, it allows and creates an overall good experience for viewers when they're reading any of the firm's content and could be ideally used by the firm due to its Simplistic, Minimalistic, Modern, and Timeless look for Logos, Namecards, Presentations, Marketing Collaterals, Websites, Software Solutions and so much more!

Lettermark Logo Design

Current Updated Icon Element Logo Artwork (B&P_Transparent BG Version).png

The lettermark logo design was created with the idea and concept of creating a higher step look with LevelFive's name taken into consideration. As the word "Level" means "a horizontal plane or line with respect to the distance above or below a given point", and in such case, the ground floor is taken as the given point. Hence, with these taken into consideration, I decided to give the letter "L" an added height. While keeping it distinctive by aligning the Letter "L" and "F" accordingly.

In addition, the Letter "L" and "F" comes with 5 strokes in total to represent on LevelFive's name and to also represent the 5 core values we have initially created and finalized with regard to the firm's corporate profile overall.

The initial suggestion of utilizing key colours which are highly trendy and with a modern futuristic yet timeless feel to them within the IT sector, and with good meaning to them overall which correlates with the company's approach to their customers in terms of service wise helps to create the main branding colours of LevelFive Solutions, where Light Purple was one of the main colours finalized for usage. (As shown below in earlier design drafts of the key few colours selected and utilized)

However, after receiving relevant team members' suggestions, we came to the agreement of utilizing and combining the Products' Main Branding Colours such as DinePlan's Medium Light shade of Pink-Red & RetailPlan's Evening Blue Sky Colours altogether to create a combination colour that leads to the hex colour code - #804566 above.

This change was thus finalized to be the main branding colour which would represent LevelFive Solutions due to the main branding colour used from both of LevelFive Solutions' main product offerings.

Purple- Hex Colour Code: #A020F0 (Darker Shade)

Orange- Hex Colour Code: #FF7E26 (Brighter Shade)

Purple Colour Meanings:

As Purple is a mixture of blue and red, hence, it sits between the two in the colour wheel. It is able to be used as a complementary and/or triadic colour scheme. Hence, it is an ideal and suitable colour range to be combined and implemented as a colour pair which goes well with orange to represent our Main solutions - DinePlan & RetailPlan altogether.

Purple has an overall positive symbolism and meaning, similar to Orange. It represents Determination, Diligence and Down to Earth's nature overall and it has also been shown that Purple works with blues, greens, oranges, and its main complementary colour, yellow too.

Orange Colour Meanings:

Based on my understanding of the colour wheel, Orange is considered a secondary colour that could be potentially utilized for a company’s branding colour scheme when we are considering either implementing 2 and/or 3 colours in total as Orange is a mixture of Red and Yellow altogether.

Orange is widely recognized and known to represent and convey warmth, excitement, and enthusiasm. Additionally, with a study done by Forbes magazine in 1991, it was also found that the colour Orange is highly associated with providing good value to customers, and lastly, based on colour psychology, orange is thought to uplift, encourage socializing and inspire productivity overall hence, with these meanings and representations in mind, I had thus decided to implement both Purple and Orange as the firm's 2 main branding colours during the initial design thinking and creation phase.

Both the brochures' content & design shown above were a combined effort made between my colleagues from the Sales team as well as with the help and support of my Marketing Assistant back in August - September 2021, when both departments were discussing & liaising with one another to ensure that the content listed within the brochures were accurate and correct at that point in time before it was finalized for mass production printing & for sharing with the firm's prospective clients for the sales' team usage. We also ensured that the overall designs for both brochures were fully approved by the management team as well.

Back during the end of March - the start of April 2021, SPIZE first reached out to us to inquire and learn more about our firm's online ordering platform solution package with potential interest in further engaging with our team to help them develop their online ordering platform / system in order to cater to their current and/or prospective customers during the circuit breaker period and throughout the covid-19 phase and more.

At that point in time, they had requested a few customization features that their team is looking at to better cater to their online ordering platform in the event they have confirmed to take up our solution package after careful and thorough considerations, as such our firm has suggested that we could come up with a mock-up design draft to cater to their needs and requirements of having a design that is somewhat similar or equivalent to a combination between a splash and loading page.

Though SPIZE's business owners were interested and have taken a liking to the design draft mock-up shared across and presented to them during the start of April 2021 with an in-person discussion held at one of their outlets located at Bedok within The Bedok Marketplace, eventually they have decided to put this idea on hold due to various considerations in mind.

Attached above and below are the design draft mock-up created to cater to their Mobile App and Website platforms respectively for the aforementioned objective.

Corporate Website Design Draft Mock Up

Albeit not having any prior field of study or possessing any professional expertise in Website Designing, and with no prior background as a Website Designer, this brief project helped to posed a new challenge and experience for me professionally when I was assigned and tasked to complete a corporate website design draft mock-up during the start November period of 2021.

With a span of 1-2 weeks to meet the overall deliverables' deadline, I had thus initiated to have professional guidance and assistance from one of my team members from our Marketing Department, who had previously specialized in Software Development and Website Designing.

From there, many discussions and personal 1-1 feedback and/or check-in sessions were conducted between us and some of the relevant team members. Initially, we both wanted to go with Figma to create the core foundational wireframe designs of the company's website, but we both decided to utilize on Wix platform in hopes to quicken the process with a drop-and-build feature/function provided by Wix platform. This enables us to bring the corporate website design draft mock-up to a "Live View" and/or "Public View" mode for relevant team members' viewing, for reference and to gather feedback much easier.

In the end, we both decided to create our version of the Company's Website Design Draft Mock-Up respectively and gather inputs from our relevant team members from thereon. This was a brief project task that ended up being put on hold till January-February 2022 when we started to officially work on the Website Design and Website Development of the company's website with a proper timeline and deadline provided for both better execution of the website design phase along with the relevant team members' expectations being met taken into consideration.
